The Arkansas Center for School Safety is pleased to announce our new course schedule for Summer/Fall 2026.

Through a partnership between the Criminal Justice Institute and the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education, a comprehensive catalog of basic and specialty school safety training courses are available to both law enforcement and school personnel, including administrators, teachers, staff, counselors, and school security officers. The ACSS utilizes both classroom-based instruction and practical, hands-on application in a variety of topics that increase knowledge and skills related to school safety issues.

Along with many of the traditional programs we offer each year, we will be offering the following NEW classes:

Behavioral Threat Assessment Management in Schools
July 23 | September 17 | October 26 | Criminal Justice Institute
This training equips SROs and educators with a clear, consistent framework for assessing student threats and managing cases from identification through intervention. Participants learn to apply structured assessment processes, distinguish threat levels, and implement collaborative, practical strategies that enhance safety and reduce risk over time.

Managing Student Walkouts and Campus Protests: Safety, Communication, and Operational Leadership for K-12 Schools
October 5 | Criminal Justice Institute
This session prepares school leaders to effectively manage student walkouts and protests using strategies grounded in Arkansas law, policy, and student rights. Participants learn how to maintain safety, communicate clearly, coordinate responses, and make legally sound decisions during high-visibility events.

Keeping Kids Safe in a Cyberworld/Cyberbullies in Our AI World
November 17 | Criminal Justice Institute
This class equips educators and school staff with practical tools to address online safety risks, including dangerous apps, AI-driven cyberbullying, deepfakes, and sextortion. Participants gain strategies to recognize, prevent, and respond to digital threats while supporting safe and responsible technology use among students.

There are no registration fees for ACSS classes, which allows SROs and educators to earn professional development hours at no cost to them or their school.
