Proactive Discipline for Reactive Students: Understanding Student Behavior for SROs and Educators
This class is designed to assist school personnel, school resource officers and others working in a school setting in differentiating between typical and atypical student behavior patterns and to establish practical proactive discipline strategies to address those behaviors. Participants will not only gain an understanding of student behavior, but will also learn how to move away from using negative reactive consequences to using positive proactive interventions. Rather than viewing student behavior as negative, this class focuses on turning misbehavior into “positive energy.” At the conclusion of this class, attendees will better understand the function of student behavior and will be able to implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) plans that will teach students the art of self-discipline.
