COMING IN JANUARY…

The Arkansas Center for School Safety is excited to offer Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) for Schools.

This course allows participants to use advanced (CPTED) strategies and solutions to promote safety, orderly behavior, and a reduction of fear in the school environment.

There are technical sessions on transportation, signage, landscaping, and lighting. Additionally, participants are guided through a comprehensive school assessment process followed by a real assessment of a school. Working in teams, participants will develop, prioritize, and present feasible recommendations for improving safety and comfort of students and staff.

This training will prepare participants to apply the principles of CPTED to a school environment, to develop and apply strategies and present recommendations for improving the safety and security of schools.

CPTED is more than design—it’s a proactive strategy for creating environments that naturally deter crime and foster a sense of safety and belonging. Our CPTED courses are ideal for school administrators, law enforcement, facilities managers, and community leaders who are committed to building safer, more resilient spaces.

This training will be held January 28-30, 2026, at the Academies of West Memphis High School.
