School-based policing is one of the fastest growing areas of law enforcement and SRO programs should be collaborative efforts between police agencies, law enforcement officers, educators, and communities. With that in mind, this course was developed for school resource officers and school administrators working together in the school environment. Participants will be exposed to the triad concept of school-based policing which divides the SRO’s responsibilities into the three areas of teacher, counselor, and law enforcement officer to provide a better understanding of the SRO’s role. In addition, participants will learn the skills necessary to develop goals for their SRO program and understand the importance of the SRO program in providing a safer learning environment in their schools.
