This course focuses on enhancing the interviewing techniques of school resource officers (SROs) when working with students in a school setting. Effective interviews require not only asking the right questions but also employing active listening and fostering an environment where students feel comfortable sharing information.

In this training, SROs will:

  • Develop essential active listening skills to encourage students to elaborate on their experiences and concerns.
  • Learn various techniques to create a supportive and non-threatening atmosphere for student interviews.
  • Explore the diverse situations in which SROs may need to conduct interviews, such as safety concerns, disciplinary matters, or gathering information relevant to school incidents.

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped to handle student interviews with sensitivity and professionalism, ensuring that each interaction is productive and respectful.
