Community Champions: Law Enforcement & Youth-Led Community Initiatives is a professional development course designed to equip School Resource Officers (SROs) with the knowledge and tools needed to unite youth and law enforcement in meaningful, trust-building partnerships. This course provides SROs with a comprehensive framework for developing youth mentoring and engagement programs that strengthen communication, foster mutual understanding, and promote long-term community well-being.

Participants will explore the essential components of establishing sustainable youth-law enforcement initiatives, including program design, organizational structure, and effective financial management. Guidance is provided on creating and managing a nonprofit entity to support long-term program funding and operations. The course also offers a wide range of practical program ideas and adaptable models suitable for schools and community settings.

Through guided discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative community projects, SROs learn strategies that help youth build leadership, responsibility, and conflict-resolution skills. The curriculum emphasizes open dialogue, positive relationship-building, and empowering young people to become active contributors in their communities.

By preparing SROs to lead inclusive, youth-driven initiatives, Community Champions strengthens community bonds and promotes a safer, more supportive environment—connecting law enforcement with the next generation in constructive and transformative ways.
