Covid-19 Precautions for ACSS Classes

The Arkansas Center for School Safety (ACSS) makes the health and safety of employees, educators, SROs, and instructors the highest priority and will continue to do so in reopening our facility. With the rollout of our new schedule for this fall, here are some precautions we’re taking to ensure your safety while attending ACSS classes.
On Site Classes
ACSS staff will take the temperature of participants before they enter, and any student with a fever of at least 100.4° F will not be allowed to enter the building. Participants will be required to fill out a Student Health Questionnaire when they arrive to class. All participants will be required to wear a mask or face covering when outside of an ACSS classroom and any time 6 feet of social distance cannot be maintained. All classrooms will be set up to maintain a six-foot social distance between participants and a 12-foot distance between the instructor and the participants.
Participants will be provided with proper handwashing procedures and hand sanitizer will be readily available. ACSS’s cleaning staff have been disinfecting and cleaning surfaces constantly in the evening. They will continue to disinfect surfaces such as tabletops, counters, doorknobs/handles, elevator buttons, handrails in the stairwells, and restroom fixtures each evening. Our staff will wipe down high traffic areas frequently with disinfectant during the day.
Off Site Classes
ACSS staff will closely coordinate with representatives of hosting organizations when an ACSS-sponsored program is delivered off site and will ensure the hosting agency can implement the required on site procedures prior to officially scheduling any meetings, event, or course delivery.
Participants, instructors, and other visitors will be informed of proper procedures at the hosting agency. Participants will be required to use a face mask or face covering in all ACSS programs.
Administration will monitor active COVID-19 cases in the state and reschedule or cancel classes as necessary in areas with high numbers of active and increasing cases of the virus. ACSS program staff will make every effort to communicate with participants when changes occur. However, you should check the ACSS website for news of schedule changes.
