Suicide Prevention & Alertness Training
This course is designed to help participants become more aware of the risks and warning signs of suicide and ways to help prevent it. The first half of the course will address topics such as the general scope of suicide, the research on prevention, and what people can do to fight suicide. The second half of the course will focus on the “safeTALK” concept which will help participants learn to notice and respond to situations where suicidal thoughts may be present. Participants will learn to apply the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe), notice and respond to situations where suicidal thoughts might be present, recognize the invitations for help that are often overlooked and the community resources that are available.
