Who We Are

Do you work on a K-12 campus in Arkansas?
The Criminal Justice Institute’s Safe Schools Program provides education, training, resources, and technical assistance to Arkansas educators and law enforcement professionals to assist them in providing our kids with a safe environment to reach their academic potential.

The Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) is a campus of the University of Arkansas System that is committed to making communities safer. Utilizing both classroom-based instruction and practical, hands-on application, CJI provides an educational experience designed to enhance performance and professionalism. CJI’s comprehensive catalog of basic and specialty school safety training courses are available to both Arkansas law enforcement and Arkansas school personnel, including administrators, teachers, staff, counselors, and school security officers.

Why take classes through CJI?
There are no registration fees for CJI classes, which allows educators to earn professional development hours at no cost to them or their school. CJI’s school safety programs have been designed to consider the unique needs of Arkansas schools and communities.

In addition to our scheduled classes, CJI accepts training requests from school districts in need of a specific school safety course in their area. Funding for these classes has been provided through the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
